Most of the CERNLIB changes are minor or bug fixes, but the opportunity has been taken to use newer operating systems and compilers on some platforms. Unfortunately, this gives compatibility problems on Solaris and Digital UNIX and users are strongly recommended to upgrade these systems and their compilers to at least the levels given in the CERNLIB "Release Schedule" located above.

After many years of dedicated support, our mathematicien K-S. Kölbig has started a well-earned retirement. Therefore, there will be a great reduction in our support for mathlib and considerable difficulty in resolving problems. When problems arise, users are recommended to check whether their application could use the NAG Mathematical Library instead. Otherwise, if at all possible, it would help to send us a complete sample program.
