With the recent introduction of a new VMS version in VXCERN, and the
modification of the CERNVM version to accept as well the UNIX syntax,
the MAILFWD command is now widely available on all computing services
(CERNVM, VXCERN and all UNIX systems making use of the ASIS repository)
and with a uniform syntax, namely:
The following advantages may be obtained by using such interface:
- --
- the syntax is system independent and easy to remember;
- --
- it provides a notable improvement compared to the raw forwarding
setting of a non-VMS address in MAIL/VMS (who has got right at the
first go the number of quotes surrounding an Internet address to
which forwarding is required?);
- --
- it makes sure that the two VM forwarding paths are set correctly
and at the same time (please ``forget'' about just using LISTSERV
for that; MAILFWD takes care of it)
