Recommended WWW Browsers at CERN


Given the diversity and choices existing for WWW browsers, we have followed the policy applied to other UNIX software offerings at CERN, namely to choose whenever possible software coming from the public domain pool, of good quality, freely available and well supported; in this case our current choices are:

Free access to the software is for us an important point, given the fact that its usage is not limited to the CERN site, and it becomes often a user requirement to get the same or similar software environment at CERN as back at the research home institute.

The browsers above adhere to the current HTML standard, which allow the creation and delivery of information in a way which becomes independent of the software used.
